Realme 8 Pro is slimmer than its predecessor and comes in flashy colors. This change on the Realme 8 Pro is the quad-camera setup at the back which houses a 108-megapixel primary camera. The phone is light and easy to hold.
It sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a hole punch for the selfie camera in the top left corner. The display has full-HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. You get a 4,500mAh battery that is capable of fast charging at 50W.
The camera performance is a hit or miss with the Realme 8 Pro. Daylight photos were average and did not have as much detail. The phone does a good job with portrait shots and the macros too were sharp but limited to 2-megapixels in resolution. The camera performance in low light was decent with better details in night mode.
Review of Realme 8 pro
Camera
Since photography is Realme 8 Pro’s claim to fame. The quad-camera on the handset comprises a 108MP Samsung HM2 f/1.88 sensor, an 8MP f/2.25 ultra-wide snapper, a 2MP f/2.4 black and white portrait lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter. In short, the device should be able to capture all sorts of scenarios. On to the front, you get a 16MP f/2.45 sensor. The camera UI on the handset is user-friendly even though it offers a bunch of features. If you’ve used Realme smartphones before, you’ll feel right at home.

The Realme 8 Pro is an attention-grabbing phone that can look alluring in photos, if the giant “dare to leap” slogan on the back doesn’t make you want to bring up your lunch. Its finish glints in the light, and the colour gradient — blue to silvery grey here.
The Realme 8 Pro’s sides are plastic too, not aluminium. It isn’t as impressive a presence as the Realme X50 5G, one of my personal favourites of the last 12 months, which has a glass back.
The Realme 8 Pro is of a good size and weight.Use fairly large screens to offer more overt value per pound. But it means many of them are slightly too large for comfort for some. The Realme 8 Pro’s size is a near-perfect balance. The frame is not too wide either.
Hardware & Software
You see, the Realme X7 and X7 Pro (review) came with the new MediaTek Dimensity chipsets. Realme’s arch-rival Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 10 trio, with the top-end Note 10 Pro Max (review) featuring Snapdragon 732G. The all-new Realme 8 Pro, on the other hand, utilises Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G.The octa-core processor with two 2.3GHz high-performance cores and six 1.8GHz efficient cores is good for the mid-range, but it was also used for the 8 Pro’s predecessor, the realme 7 pro launched six months back. In that respect, the Realme 8 Pro doesn’t come across as a big upgrade.
The Realme 8 Pro may not be a battery monster, but it can easily last more than a day even with heavy usage. The 4,500mAh pack lasted more than a day with ease on average during my testing period. And this is corroborated by PCMark’s test as well, as the device gave a result of 16 hours. The best part is that you don’t have to keep it plugged in for long.
